Actual clitoral piercings are very rare.They have a lot of risks to them and most women don't have large enough anatomy to support them.
Hood piercings are most common. Vertical and horizontal piercings all heal at about the same rate. You want to avoid unprotected contact for at least 3 months. You can return to sexual activities (some of them at least) as soon as you feel comfortable, but try to use a position that ensures there is no contact with the fresh piercing. Use condoms with a water based lubricant, no spermicidal jellies (they will irritate the piercing)
